Maintaining good mental health is just as important as maintaining good physical health.

Good mental health generally means we are able to think, feel, react and do things in the ways that we need and want to.

As human beings we all have a wide spectrum of moods and mental states, but sometimes we may go through a period of poor mental health. We may find the ways that we’re thinking, feeling or reacting can become difficult or seemingly impossible to cope with. This can cause us to feel as bad or worse than a physical illness.

However people often do not choose to seek help and support for when they are struggling, and this can cause distress and can create sense of isolation. Mental health problems are a very common experience. They are so common to the extent that some of these problems affect around one in four people in any given year.
